Vision Board Party

On September 22nd, 2017, Dare 2 Be D.E.A.F. launched its first Vision Board Party at Olanta Elementary School. Representatives from the organization helped over 30 students ranging from the grade levels of 3rd through 5th grade develop goals by stimulating their minds and transitioning their dreams from thoughts to words and images. Vision boards are used to help clarify, concentrate and maintain focus on a specific life goal.

A majority of the students had never heard of a vision board prior to the event. However, many of them had big dreams. The purpose of creating a vision board was to help students create a visual representation of their goals. Many goals were academic. Students wanted to read more books during the school year and increase their state test scores. Other goals were centered on family and community outreach.

Following the Vision Board Party, students took their vision boards home. We encouraged them to place their vision board on the wall in an area they would frequently pass. This would be a constant reminder of what they desire to achieve.
