In many cases when a child leaves home for college they are moving out of their parent’s house into a college dorm room or apartment. Basic household items are needed, such as linen, towels, toiletries, detergent and other living necessities. To provide additional assistance, we treat our top scholarship applicants to a college shopping spree that affords them the ability to purchase school and dorm supplies. This effort allows us to help more of our top applicants regardless of whether or not they become a scholarship recipient. Our shopping spree helps lighten the financial load and time demands of the summer before students go off to college and continue their academic journey.

 

Our college shopping spree initiative began in 2016. Each year, our shopping spree takes place at Walmart in Lake City, SC. We have awarded over $7,500 in school and dorm supplies to our top scholarship applicants since the start of our initiative in 2016.
